Ingersoll Rand Factory Visit
August 21st 2019 –
We are the master distributor for Ingersoll Rand’s CNG Compressor Packages and enjoyed our visit to the factory to see how it all works.
P.C. McKenzie Company traveled down to Kentucky to visit Ingersoll Rand’s factory. During the visit P.C. McKenzie was able to walk the production floor, and gain a glimpse into the life of a CNG compressor from parts to functioning compressor.
P.C. McKenzie was able to meet the men and women responsible for assembling the CNG compressors which was quite interesting to see the amount of work that goes into preparing an Ingersoll Rand CNG compressor.
The factory had a unique roller system to help move large and heavy objects down the production line, each station was timed and had large “bladder” like lifts to lift each compressor up to working level.
As P.C. McKenzie company walked the floor, we are able to see tanks being painted in the signature IR beige color being whisked around the floor drying as they made the factory floor loop. Upon completing the loop, the tanks were placed immediately in the production parts population. We could see the factory line workers pulling parts and assembling everything from compressor to controls while under a timed clock. Green lights flashing the correct parts to pick for the current build. Not much time is wasted trying to find parts in bins.
P.C. McKenzie was also taken to see the Test Stand where Ingersoll Rand tests the CNG compressors in a 24-hour loop prior to shipping any CNG compressor out. On the way to the Test Stand location we were able to walk through the Ingersoll Rand’s factory stock area, where all items large and small are stocked.
The visit was an exciting one to see the factory and meet all the people responsible for the Ingersoll Rand CNG compressors, learn of the life from spare parts to fully tested CNG compressor ready to be placed into the field. We thank Ingersoll Rand for the time to meet and share us a glimpse of the work they do daily.
