Garrett Relief Valve
Do you need repair parts for your USI/Garrett Type D-3 Safety Valves? We can help.
The type D-3 was manufactured in the 1960’s and was used for pressures between 276 psi and 6000 psi. It featured a split plunger assembly and was furnished with hard or soft seats, single or dual outlets.
The D-3 was the forerunner to the Axelson HD valves that are supplied today. Many D-3’s are still in service and must be maintained in order to keep systems safe. Fortunately parts and technical information is still available through P.C. McKenzie Company.
Garrett – USI – Axelson Replacement now Recommended!
It is now time to begin replacing all Garrett and USI Type F Safomax valves still in service
All valve bodies and body hardware are obsolete and no longer manufactured. Some, but not all, of the Garrett pilots are obsolete as well. The soft goods, such as o-ring kits and soft seats are the only items still available for these obsolete valves and pilots.
When replacing these old valves, it is important to know that the end to end dimensions are different today and that slight piping modifications may be necessary before replacement.
Another important consideration is sizing. The valves that are manufactured today are much more efficient than they were back then. Before Replacing These Old Garrett Valves, it is strongly recommended to size the orifice for the operating conditions of today. This will let the valve work smoother, prevent damage and reduce maintenance.
