Blowing down a boiler is very important for controlling solids. To accomplish this, you will see tapings located on the bottom of your boiler. These are connected to a series of valves and piping to ensure the safe discharge of boiler water. Pictured are two
Everlasting blowdown valves used on boilers. The first blowdown valve is a
2" Everlasting Quick Opening Blowdown Valve Fig 4000-A. It is rated for 250 lb. As you can see, it is a lever operated valve and therefore is faster to open. HOW
FIGURE 4000 SERIES OPERATES: Line pressure and
heavy spring hold the disc firmly against the body seat, sealing
off the flow. When operated, the disc slides across the
body seat pushing harmful boiler scale away, and wiping clean
the precision tapped surfaces. Hand adjustment of the post
packing is eliminated. Post packing is self-adjusted by a
spring and line pressure. This prevents destructive erosion
and leakage of stuffing box. The second blowdown valve is a
2" Everlasting Slow Opening Valve Fig 4060. It is also rated for 250 lb. This valve is wheel operated and takes a longer time to open. |
